God's Purpose

The big question on everyone's mind has to be, "why did God create everything?"  What's the point to creating an earth and a universe and people and animals?

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:16,17)

Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will. (Ephesians 1:9-11)

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; (Colossians 1:19)

God created all things so that he could one day give them to his Son Jesus Christ, and he did it for his own pleasure.  Why do you do the things that you like to do?  You do them because you enjoy them and they give you pleasure.  God created all things "according to his good pleasure," and in the end he will give all to his Son.
